Ordering a custom outfit from SunBlade Cosplay is easy and fun. Similar to getting clothing tailored or altered, this is a collaborative process that results in you getting a great, inventive piece that fits you perfectly. As we are a small business and outfits are made to order, our process is extended and not intended to rush through. If you are seeking a piece within 3-4 weeks turnaround, please consider alternative options.

That being said, we love the process of creating something special just for you, and our personalized approach is well worth the wait. Here's the process that we're currently following to ensure your outfit gets made and delivered in the smoothest possible way.

Step #1: The First Consultation

If you have an idea and want to get an estimate for your design, please schedule a Zoom meeting for an initial conversation. In this 20-30 minute talk, we'll discuss your ideas, expectations, and a potential timeline.

*Please note that we recommend booking a consultation at least three months before you expect to have the completed outfit in your hands.

Step #2: Measurements

After we hold our first consultation, you will receive a measurement guide via email. You will use this guide to send your size info. It's important that our exact measurement guide is used so you submit the correct measurements.

Step #3: Sketching and Concepting

Once we receive your measurements, we will begin on your concept. This process usually takes anywhere between 2-3 business days. The concept is delivered as an original sketch, which will be emailed to you, as well as a detailed estimate for labor and materials.

Step #4: Project Kickoff and Payment

When the sketches are approved, the creation of your design begins! We are a small business and due to the variety of fabrics and materials we use to complete pieces, we requirement 100% payment upfront for materials and labor. Payment must be received for your project to officially start. A delay in payment will extend your initial proposed timeline.

Step #5: Outfit Creation and Fitting

The initial fitting for your costume will occur at least one month after payment is received. The simplicity or complexity of your design may result in a slower or quicker timeline.

You will receive your outfit via FedEx (insured and tracked) and the fitting will occur virtually, unless you are local to the Wilmington, North Carolina area.

Step #6: Final Alterations

If your outfit fits, we're all set! In the case that additional changes are needed, one more round of alterations will occur.

Step #7: You Look Awesome

After final alterations are made, the piece is yours to keep. While you don't have to, we would love for you to follow us on Instagram and tag us in your pictures. We promise that we will show you off!
